Background Setting
This concept design is based on the Hmong people of China. In this alternate world, Jiuli Tribe, as the representative of the Hmong, is one of the dozens of civilizations that survived the flooding of the world in the mid-19th century. They occupied Kunlun Island, which used to be the Kunlun Mountain Range, and renamed it as Jiuli Island. According to the lifestyle of their real-world counterpart, the Hmong, they are a people who specialize in the art of witchcraft named in Chinese as 蛊, and live in harmony with nature.

Political Structure
Jiuli Tribe has adopted a democratic representative system that coexists with divine authority. Chi is the agent of the divine power on earth and is responsible for all matters relating to witchcraft and rituals. Separate from this is JiYu Council, which manages all political and secular matters.

Filterable bristle earthworms are monsters that live in symbiosis with Jiuli people. They mutate from ordinary earthworms that absorb the toxic miasma above the sea. The bristles on their bodies used to filter the toxic air are utilized by Jiuli people in their masks. By wearing this mask equipped with bristles, Jiuli people can breathe freely in the miasma zone.
